The countdown till final hand in is upon us all... I suppose that correlates wonderfully with the fact that Yom Kippur is this Shabbas, so I'm most probably talking about the archi project hand in along with the countdown of all countdowns... The ten days of repentance...
May they be successful and meaningful....
Oh... the site... ;)

As I'm sure you can imagine at a time like this... your mind starts to wonder and consider issues that seem to evade the regular thinker during normal wakey wakey hours....
So my theory is starting to develop like this....
The degree of architecture is actually a science experiment carried out by doctors and shrinks who want to see what happens when you force young minds to consistently think outside the box.... I seem to got locked outside the communal think box and can't get back in... So my new dilemma is to simply design my own box.... one that I can think out of, inside of and next to...
Think of it... it makes sense.... watch archi students carefully... they do the wierdest thing, and amongst archi students... it seems normal, or even better, very revolutionary.....
I can imagine these crazy docs watching our every move....

Well I'm sure that you can see by the time of this post that Architecture doesn't stop for any clock, or requirement for sleep.
I have been working on the general planning of the spaces in conjunction with sectional planning. Although, to get an accurate section, I need to get these plans somewhat polished....

That is a great answer.... You know, being from South Africa, I really look up to people that speak so deliciously and the like....

Today's agenda is simply to get as much done as possible. The work load that us archi kids get exposed to can be border line insane; but it simply needs to get done...
So far, I have a pretty good idea of how my building will be working in terms of volume and section. I have to make my planning more solid, and get cracking on the drawings...
Keep watching and I'll try post some development of my vertical wine estate...

There are millions of ways of creating form and space in architecture; This is on a conceptual and practical level. One of the ways that I was told to try was to randomly cut cardboard and see the shapes and space that evolve through the experience. A few pics of the cut board have been posted already. Here is a little clip of the one model that seems to have guided me through the process of creating architecture

If you look at the original ideas found in my sketchbook, you will see the concept of having an entire wine estate within a build. Mad I know. So how do you do it? If you have a deep slab that doesn't get any light... No vineyard. If you make massive voids to take in light... you waste space. So the current direction of thought is to sweep slabs over each other so that the voids can take the maximum amount of light, while utilising the wasted space.

GOLDRING is a running documentary of the thoughts, inspirations, and ambitions of a current Architecture Student. Through visual and verbal presentation, the world of Architecture is analysed through the eyes of a student.
